Community Mapping
Washoe County
“Map Washoe Together: Your Voice, Your Map!”
We’re inviting everyone in Washoe County to take part in a powerful community mapping project! Your input will help identify safe spaces, valuable local resources, and hot spots where crime or safety concerns need attention. Whether it’s a trusted food pantry, a well-lit park, or an area that needs more support, your knowledge can make a real difference. Let’s work together to build a safer, stronger, and more connected Washoe County—one pin at a time. Heres some tips to get started:
*When pinning your locations please include as much information as possible. When you identify a safe spot or a hot spot, please be sure you give them a context – why are they safe? who are they not safe etc.?
When pinning a Safe Place, please choose GREEN
Ex. Safe Place: Public Library – Safe Space. A place, building in the community where families can go and feel safe.
When pinning a Hot Spot, please choose RED
Ex. Hot Spot: The wooded area in back of a store front (address), The area is dark and has been known to attract a bad element. Witnessed drug use in the area and consistent congregation of young adults, minors etc.
If the location is already pinned, you have two options: 1. Click on “Thumbs Up” or “Thumbs Down” on existing location/pin. 2. Create another pin for that location with your own comments. You can also upload photos if they are relevant to a location.
Select the + sign in the lower right corner to start pinning.
